For Party DJs

Club Rigs vs. House Party Sound Systems

The "Club AV" Trap

If you call a standard DJ equipment hire agency in Melbourne, they will try to rent you passive QSC or RCF tops, a massive heavy subwoofer, crossover cables, and a separate power amplifier.

For a warehouse gig, that's great. But for a backyard 21st, a house party, or a small function room, it is complete overkill. You end up paying $250+ and spending an hour setting up tripods and taping down cables.

Our Plug-and-Play DJ Solution

Modern active speakers solve this. The JBL PartyBox 710 has dual 8-inch subwoofers and the amplifier built right into the cabinet.

You literally roll it in, plug it into the wall, run an RCA-to-AUX cable from your DDJ/XDJ controller straight into the back of the speaker, and you have 800 Watts of zero-latency club sound ready in 60 seconds.

Technical Guide

How to connect your DJ Controller

Connecting a Pioneer DDJ, XDJ, or any standard mixer to our speaker hire.

1

Don't use Bluetooth!

While our speakers feature Bluetooth 5.1 for regular playlists, DJs must never mix over Bluetooth. Bluetooth introduces audio latency (delay) which makes beatmatching impossible. You must use a wired connection.

2

Use the Master Out

Look at the back of your DJ controller. Most beginner/intermediate decks (like the DDJ-400 or FLX4) have a Red/White RCA "Master Out". Run an RCA-to-3.5mm AUX cable from your deck into the AUX-in port on the back of the JBL PartyBox 710.

3

Gain Staging

Turn the volume on the JBL speaker to 70%. Then, control your master volume directly from the Master knob on your DJ controller. Keep your channels out of the red to avoid distorting the speaker's built-in amplifier.

DJ Equipment Hire — FAQ

Do you hire out Pioneer CDJs or DJ Mixers?
Currently, Speaker Hire Hub specializes strictly in the 'Sound' aspect of DJ equipment hire. We provide the active PA speakers, sound systems, and microphones. You will need to provide your own DJ controller (like a DDJ), laptop, and headphones.
Is the JBL PartyBox 710 loud enough for a DJ gig?
Absolutely. It outputs 800W RMS. For a house party, 21st, or backyard gig with up to 100 people, a single JBL 710 provides chest-thumping bass that rivals traditional dual-speaker setups. It has dual 8-inch subwoofers built right into the cabinet.
What cables do I need to connect to your speakers?
We provide a standard 3.5mm AUX cable. If your DJ deck has an RCA Master Out (red/white ports), you will need your own RCA-to-3.5mm cable. If your deck has XLR or 1/4-inch outputs, you will need the appropriate adapter down to 3.5mm (or RCA if hiring the Vonyx).
Can I plug a microphone into the speaker while DJing?
Yes. If your DJ deck doesn't have a great mic input, you can plug our wireless microphones directly into the dedicated Mic Input on the back of the JBL 710. It has its own separate volume dial, allowing you to MC over your mix independently.
